It’s smart, it’s safe, and it has arrived. On October 5th, Damon Motors announced it will build a state-of-the-art, cleantech manufacturing and R&D plant in Surrey, B.C. The 110,000 square foot facility will produce Damon’s renowned HyperSport motorcycles from kickstand to headlights. Damon Co-founder and CEO Jay Giraud highlighted their “cleaner, industry-leading manufacturing process” that complements Damon’s direction in clean energy, electric vehicles. “

[We] look forward to this world-class facility delivering the safest and cleanest premium, high-technology motorcycles on the market,” said Giraud.  Damon’s arrival in Surrey plays against the backdrop of British Columbia’s exciting and growing EV industry. Minister of Energy, Mines, and Low Carbon Innovation Bruce Ralston said, “B.C. is home to many innovative clean-tech companies that are helping us grow as a leader in the electric vehicle sector. We’re proud to support Damon Motors who will help us meet our Clean BC goals and create new, good-paying jobs in the province.”

Damon’s world-class production headquarters is predicted to create several hundred jobs for local Surreyites who are interested in working at a dynamic and successful startup. Projections suggest that by 2025, the plant will create more than 300 high-tech manufacturing jobs and more than 500 high-tech office jobs. Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum stated, “British Columbia is quickly becoming an EV hotspot and the arrival of the Damon Motors manufacturing facility puts Surrey right in the middle of it.”

The Damon HyperSport is the world’s smartest, safest fully electric motorcycle. With a top speed of 200 mph and a range of more than 200 highway miles per charge, the HyperSport has captured the imagination of motorcyclists across the world.
