You might have dealt with the Twitter hack this morning. Sometime before 9:30 a.m. EST, Twitter went dark and it has since been confirmed that the popular social media website is under a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS). For several hours this morning, the site’s more than 20-plus million users was unable to post their tweets and participate on the site. While the website is currently up and running, Twitter is still under attack and users are still being bumped off the site and unable to tweet.
This is the first, significant DDoS attack for Twitter. How will this affect its user base? Tweeple are instant gratification users – they post their 140 characters and expect an immediate response.
I’m sticking with Twitter… are you?
